Eighth annual Care Home Open Day fast approaching

Care homes across the country will be inviting the public to visit for the day, and Care England has taken the opportunity to remind people that care homes can be interesting places.

Care England’s annual Care Home Open Day is on the horizon, with June 26 marking the event’s eighth year.

The theme of the day for 2020 will be music, though the wider world of arts will also be celebrated.

Care homes across the country will be inviting the public to visit for the day, and Care England has taken the opportunity to remind people that care homes can be interesting places.

Many contain in-house choirs, art galleries, post offices, hairdressers and more.

Also, more than 40% of care homes, the organisation said, have a pub or other private drinking facility inside.

Hilary Woodhead, executive director at National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), says:

“Care Home Open Day is the perfect opportunity to make friends with a local care home. I think that many people will be amazed at what’s on offer; every home and every day is different. Come and find out for yourself on 26 June”.
