Management at Ideal Carehomes’ Windsor Court in Wetherby have expressed their pride after their whole team was vaccinated against COVID-19.
The news comes ahead of government legislation requiring all care home staff to be vaccinated, with NHS England reporting that one in five care home staff are still to have the jab.
Home Manager, Paula Mountjoy, believes receiving the vaccine is part of the team’s professional duty of care to protect residents and she is extremely proud of them for stepping up.
She said: “As care providers, our team understands the huge responsibility we have to our residents and ensuring their safety from this virus has been of upmost importance throughout the pandemic. To see a 100% staff uptake of the vaccine just shows the dedication and caring nature of our team.
“It was understandable since the vaccine rollout began that some people were a little nervous about the jab, however, we chatted at length about their concerns, and we have lots of reassuring information, so they were able to make an informed decision. I am very proud of the team, and it just gives us the confidence to know we are doing everything we can to protect our residents.”
Resident, Peter Durham, 79 , said: “It makes me really happy to know that all of the care team have received their vaccines. It provides peace of mind and hopefully we can begin to move on from this terrible virus very soon.”
All residents at the care home situated on Sandbeck Way, have had both jabs.
