Tomorrow Care Home Professional will be hosting the Miele Interactive Discussion on the challenges facing care home managers in 2021 and beyond.
This discussion will be looking at the past 18 months, the global COVID-19 pandemic that has faced all areas of healthcare and the areas of this that have caused the most problems for care home managers and staff in the UK. Infection prevention and control has always been part of the work that is done in the social care environment but COVID has tested it to the limits. The guidance keeps on changing and often the different organisations that care homes take their information from are providing contradictory advice.
When COVID first hit us in 2020 there was a huge sense of camaraderie in the care sector. The whole of the industry pulled together to ensure that residents and staff alike were protected and kept safe. Once the vaccination programme rolled out everyone felt much safer – like COVID was no longer a threat. However, the reality is that more and more residents and staff have been contracting the virus even after being double vaccinated – this is a virus that has not gone away and the challenge is not over.
Join our interactive discussion tomorrow, Wednesday 3rd November, on the challenges the industry faces as we move into winter, a time of year when many of our frail elderly residents find themselves even more at risk. How will we manage to cope with flu and COVID together? What will increasing COVID cases mean for Christmas celebrations? Will we be in a position again where we have to close our doors to residents’ families? For this and more join us and hear what we believe some of the challenges will be and share some of your hints and tips on how to stay one step ahead.
