A webinar offering practical guidance and for operators and managers on COVID-19 has been held by care home management consultancy, Fulcrum Care.
Consultant, Kima Sutherland-Dee (pictured), answered some common questions on COVID-19 and provided general advice about how to prevent infection and manage an outbreak in a care home.
Fellow Fulcrum consultant Tony Thiru said: “We were overwhelmed with the positive reaction to the webinar. We received lots of thanks saying that that Kima’s advice was extremely useful and helpful to them. It’s such a difficult time for care home managers at the moment. This webinar is Fulcrum’s contribution to help care home managers and providers focus on the most important advice relevant to them from the ever increasing and ever changing information on COVID-19.”
Due to oversubscription for the event, a further 40-minute session and Q&A will be held tomorrow with Kima at 2pm.
The full agenda will cover: CQC changes and notifications; infection control: advice and practice; staff recruitment changes; tips for dealing with those with dementia; and managing an active infection and the aftermath.
Kima is a senior health and social care professional with more than 30 years’ experience in sectors including nursing, elderly care, dementia, learning disabilities and regulation. Her most recent role was with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), where she spent 18 years as both an Inspector and Inspection Manager.
