Turnaround specialist acquires new care home

Attwood’s Manor

East Anglian based premium nursing and residential care home provider Stow Healthcare has completed the purchase of Attwood’s Manor Care Home in Halstead, Essex.

The acquisition of the home from Attwood’s Manor Residential Homes Limited increases Stow Healthcare’s capacity to 250 beds and follows the recent purchase of Melford Court Care Home in Long Melford, Suffolk.

Roger Catchpole, managing director of Stow Healthcare, said: “We are delighted to have agreed the purchase of a care facility with such great potential.

“Despite the home struggling for many years, I am confident that with the support of Essex County Council, the CQC and the local Halstead community, we can turn this home into one of the best care homes in Essex.”

Attwood’s Manor is currently registered for 65 residents and provides long-term, respite and convalescence care for the elderly.

Since its foundation by the Catchpole family in 2010, Stow Healthcare has built a reputation for turning around failing homes having gained ‘outstanding’ ratings for two previously troubled services.

The company plans to invest significantly in the renovation of Attwood’s Manor and the training of its staff over the coming years.
