Time capsule embeds care home’s links with local school children

Pupils from Christ Church & St Peter’s CE Primary School in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire have buried a time capsule at Ideal Carehomes’ Mountview care home in Rothley.

Mountview, which is due for completion at the end of November and has been built by LNT Care Developments, will accommodate 66 older people.

Home Manager Sue Shaw said: “We are so pleased that Christ Church & St Peter’s CE Primary School were keen to be involved with the time capsule idea – it is a really exciting project and I am sure it will be a great talking point at the home for many years.

“I am extremely passionate about our home being a part of the local community for several reasons, but most importantly to maintain fundamental links for our future residents, and we look forward to continuing our great relationship with the school.”

Fran Ward, Deputy Head at Christ Church & St Peter’s CE Primary School, said: “The time capsule idea really captured the children’s thoughts – it got us all thinking about life today and how things might have changed in 50 years’ time.

“The children were also interested in what life will be like at Mountview when it opens, and we all enjoyed learning about the construction site – the cakes in the site office went down a treat!  We can’t wait to visit again when the home is open.”
