The Care Workers’ Charity delivers more than £2m in grants in 2020


The Care Workers’ Charity has delivered more than £2m in grants to support social care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its 2020 Impact Report, the charity revealed it awarded grants worth £2.2m in 2020 up by 1,150% on 2019.

Karolina Gerlich, Executive Director of The Care Workers’ Charity, said: “We’re really pleased to share our journey over the past 12 months as the charity has gone from strength to strength in supporting care workers during the turbulent year.

“We’ve seen many changes; a constantly changing landscape in the social care sector; new staff joining the charity; a wider awareness of the contribution made by social care workers and the development of vaccines to bring new hope to everyone.”

Other key achievements listed in the report include:

2,864 COVID-19 Emergency Fund Grants awarded, with a total value of £1,981,858;

402 Crisis Grants awarded, with a total value of £285,370; and

39 Funeral Grants awarded, with a total value of £64,945.

Karolina added: “The Care Workers’ Charity would like to thank all of our Trustees, sponsors, funders, partners and donors. Without this vital support we would not be able to provide support to care workers during their time of greatest need. Thank you.”
