Supplier bids to make dirty dishes headache a thing of the past

Care home kitchens struggling to deal with an endless supply of dirty cutlery could get a helping hand from a newly-designed range of equipment aimed at making the cleaning process simple.

Warewashing supplier Hobart UK has unveiled a new generation of what it calls “easy-to-load, easy-to-operate and easy-to-clean” high performance utensil washers that it claims are set to remove the headaches of manual pre-washing and significantly reduce the need for ‘second-runs’.

The high capacity range, offered in PROFI and PREMAX models, possesses a 65% higher water circulation than the previous range due to an increased number of wash jets and a re-designed base rack.

The PREMAX models feature a smarter water coverage which is allied to patented steam and detergent injection technology yet doesn’t increase water usage.

The steam pre-soaks the soiled ware, achieving 70% better results for all starch-based stains like potatoes and rice. The energy created by the steam also keeps the wash water at exactly the right temperature which means there is no additional consumption of energy.

Detergent is now directly sprayed rather than being dispensed into the wash tank in the latest model, achieving 45% better results for protein-based stains such as egg, cheese and fish. There is also an option to include Hobart’s unique, drain heat recovery system which uses the energy from the hot drain water to reduce energy consumption savings of up to £750 per year.

Tim Bender, UK sales director – warewashing at Hobart UK said: “The introduction of these enhanced utensil washers heralds not only a new dawn for sheer performance, but also for simplicity and ease of use. We know from our work with operators across foodservice that a reduction in manual involvement in the cleaning process of utensils is one of the major customer requirements in kitchens and food prep areas.

“Manual washing with a sink and hand shower can consume large amounts of water and chemicals, while second-runs are both cost and time consuming. The new generation range helps to eliminate these headaches at the touch of a button.”
