A ‘Silver Surfers Group’ has been launched by a care home in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
The care home is inviting members of the local community to attend free and informal classes on IT basics, including iPad usage, laptops and smart phones in sessions run by local company, Mels Computer Care of Sale on the last Friday of every month at 2pm.
Sharon Parkes, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Hale Barns, said: “Sunrise of Hale barns are proud to be hosting our Silver Surfers Group. We love to encourage residents to learn new skills and socialise with members of the local community.
“Everyone is really excited about this new initiative, as many of them can’t wait to be able to show their grandchildren what they can do using iPads and smartphones. We will be doing more activities to further expand on our anti-loneliness campaign in the future.”
In addition to the group, the home will also be inviting guests to join residents for activities such as a monthly afternoon tea and entertainment.
