Stocks Hall Nursing & Care Group is celebrating after its home in Nelson, Lancashire, was awarded a five star food hygiene rating for 2019.
This is the highest food hygiene rating award possible and was awarded after a food safety officer from the local authority turned up unannounced at the kitchens of Andrew Smith Home.
Three key elements were checked at the inspection: how hygienically the food is handled, prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled and stored; physical condition of the premises including cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation, pest control and other facilities; and how the business, manages ways of keeping food safe, looking at processes, training and systems to ensure good hygiene is maintained.
Vicky James, the head chef at Andrew Smith House said she was delighted by the achievement.
“It is very reassuring to know we complete everything to a very high standard and we comply with all of the standards expected of us, this is such good news for everyone,” she added.
