St Helena Hospice in Colchester has been rated Outstanding by the CQC.
The home, which is run by St Helena Hospice Limited, was rated Outstanding for being Caring and Responsive, and Good for being Safe, Effective and Well-led.
Ray Wilson, Director of Patient and Family Services, said: “We are delighted St Helena Hospice has been rated by the CQC as Outstanding. All aspects of our services were inspected, including the Inpatient Unit, day services and community services.
“The inspectors were extremely impressed and highly complimentary across the board. I am extremely proud of the staff and volunteers who demonstrate every day a high quality in all we do for patients and families.”
Inspectors praised the hospice for its person centred care ethos which included helping people to express their views and treating them as individuals in a sensitive and caring manner.
The CQC also highlighted how staff worked with people to develop care plans that went as far as possible to fulfilling their goals and wishes.
A range of services and therapies were provided in the hospice’s day service centre and people were encouraged to provide feedback on the type of care they received.
