Mayflower Court in Southampton is celebrating after being hailed as one of the best new care homes for older people in the UK.

The care home impressed judges of the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards, who visited it this month to present the team with a trophy recognising their achievement as finalists in this year’s event. They were also awarded a £500 cheque for their chosen charity, Contact the Elderly.

Duncan Cryer from Atkins, the architects for the home, said: “Mayflower Court is carefully designed so that residents can be as active, social and independent as they wish. These awards acknowledge how the right property can improve people’s wellbeing and quality of life, so Mayflower Court is a perfect candidate.”
