HC-One’s Douglas View Care Home in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire has received ratings of Good and Very Good following an inspection in July.
The inspection of the home, which provides care for up to 100 adults and older people, was amongst those presented to the Scottish Parliament last week.
The Care Inspectorate said: “We found that people were being cared for by staff who knew them well and were knowledgeable about their needs and preferences. People were relaxed and comfortable at the home and we observed that staff were caring and attentive towards them.”
Improvements were found in people’s care plans and medication administration recording.
Inspectors found the home was “clean, tidy and well ventilated”, however, they noted some furniture needed to be replaced to improve infection prevention and control. The regulator noted new furniture had been ordered.
Inspectors highlighted that infection prevention and control measures and enhanced cleaning regimes were in place and there was a sufficient supply of PPE, which was stored safely and could be easily accessed by staff.
Staff had received training in infection prevention and control, awareness of COVID-19 and how to use and dispose of PPE safely.
A spokesperson for the home said: “We are delighted that our home has been rated ‘good’ in all areas. This is a testament to the kindness, compassion and dedication of the whole team who are focused on doing their best for residents.
“We are truly grateful to our local colleagues for their hard work and dedication which has been the driving force in achieving such a positive result.
“Our new management team has done a fantastic job supporting the home and we are proud to be on a journey to being the first choice care provider in the communities we serve.”
