Signature Senior Lifestyle has pledged to hire a high percentage of local workers for its new Barnet and Hendon care homes that will open in 2022.
Signature is collaborating with the Department for Work and Pensions and Barnet & Southgate College on a Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) at Barnet & Southgate College to help long-term unemployed people in the community get back into work.
Martin Crick, General Manager of Barnet at Signature, said: “It is fantastic to be collaborating with the Department for Work and Pensions and Barnet & Southgate College on the Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP). It is important to me as an employer within the Barnet borough to be able to facilitate and support some of the long-term unemployed in our community, giving local people the opportunity to get back into work. We have two superb new luxury care homes taking shape and we are now recruiting a customer-focused team.”
Jackie Bennett, General Manager of Signature’s Hendon Hall, added: “We are excited that the first SWAP programme has now been planned and is about to be launched, commencing at the end of January. This will be for hospitality roles at Signature at Hendon Hall comprising classroom style learning at Barnet & Southgate College as well as on site work experience at Hendon Hall. We expect this to be a long term collaboration between all parties, with the second SWAP programme targeted at staffing for both our new homes in the London Borough of Barnet.”
As well as the opportunity to receive valuable work experience, upon completing the course, those taking part are also guaranteed an interview for a role within one of the new Signature homes. This news also comes just as Signature announces their new holiday allowance extension, whereby full-time hourly paid team members will now receive 25 days (extending to 30 with years of service) plus eight bank holidays — further positioning the luxury care group as an employer of choice.
