Residents at award winning luxury later living operator Signature Care Homes have taken on a Facebook cookery challenge hosted by MasterChef winner Jane Devonshire.
Jane (pictured) judged contestants from 12 care homes after demonstrating how to make the perfect Knickerbocker Glory dessert from her home.
Jane said: “It was such a huge joy to be part of the Signature Knickerbocker Glory Challenge day. Some dishes are just so nostalgic and delicious that it was lovely to see the residents and staff having such fun and eating delicious desserts together.”
Simon Dickinson, Sales and Brand Director at Signature Care Homes, added: “Our residents’ happiness and wellbeing is our number one priority, so we have worked hard to ensure that we can still provide fun activities for them while adapting and adhering to the current situation. The challenge was a resounding success with excellent feedback from residents who enjoyed the day. Our teams will continue to be inventive as we look to roll out new initiatives, all delivered with humour, kindness and empathy.”
The sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by all and collectively achieved over 6,500 views on Facebook and appeared on 45,000 timelines, mirroring a wider societal increase in social media usage during the period of lockdown.
Residents and carers from Moorlands Lodge, Bentley Lodge, The Beeches, Wandsworth Common, Cliveden Manor, Elton House, Parklands Manor, Wimbledon, Ascot Grange, Coombe Hill Manor, Pembroke House and Roseberry Manor took part in the challenge.
