Runwood Homes has celebrated the turnaround of a Doncaster care home after it was rated Good in all categories.
Rowena House, which has been rated Requires Improvement since December 2016, was given the improved rating following an inspection in November.
Home manager, Kathleen George, said: “We are so pleased to officially receive a Good rating. We practise person-centred care, looking after the needs and wishes of every individual in our home.
“Our dedicated and passionate team are happy that their efforts are consistent and compliant, to provide an effective residential care service. Our continuous training and service monitoring ensures a safe, inspiring and comfortable living environment for all.”
The CQC report said: “People’s needs were assessed, and care was planned in a way which met people’s individual needs. Staff felt supported by the management team and received supervision sessions on a regular basis.”
The 40-bed home received further praise for providing a balanced diet that met residents’ needs, with people also being supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives.
“We observed staff interacting with people and found they were caring,” the CCQ added.
“An emphasis on dignity featured throughout the home and in the way, staff approached care.”
The CQC said the service was well managed with person centred care plans and a varied activities programme that was facilitated by a well-being lead.
