Runwood Homes buys three care homes in Northern Ireland

Runwood Homes is expanding its operations in Northern Ireland with the purchase of three care homes.

The business has announced the acquisition of Ashbrooke Care Home in Enniskillen, Ard Mhacha Care Home in Armagh and Geannan Care Home in Dungannon.

Runwood Homes Northern Ireland director of operations John Rafferty said: “I am delighted with this acquisition as the three care homes are a good strategic fit with our operation in Northern Ireland and complement our portfolio of homes.

“I look forward to working with the local communities attached to these homes and I assure the key stakeholders that we will deliver a model of innovative and evidenced based care practices.”

The three homes accommodate 192 elderly people with various care needs and expands Runwood’s portfolio in Northern Ireland to 812 nursing and residential beds. This will increase to 900 beds later this year with the completion of a state of the art care facility in Glengormley, Belfast.

Arlene Foster, Member of the Legislative Assembly and First Minister for Northern Ireland, welcomed the news as a “major investment in our local private care sector”.
