Birchwood House in Tunbridge Wells brought fun and magic to residents this Easter with an Alice in Wonderland themed Matt Hatter’s Tea Party.

The event, which followed the success of a Winter Wonderland-themed Christmas party, was held on 31 March.

Claire Tye, deputy manager of Birchwood House, said: “Here at Birchwood House, we always like to go above and beyond to make sure the residents smile.

“After what can only be described as the strangest most challenging year for us all, we wanted to create a scene of magic and joy to lift the spirits of all.”

The event saw the dining room of the care home transformed into a magical and majestic wonderland.

Staff re-produced some of the most fantastical and quirky scenes from Alice in Wonderland with Alice sipping tea with the residents along with a life-size Cheshire Cat.

Food was themed around the story with ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’ labels displayed on each item and there was a full spread for all to indulge in, including jam tarts, cheese straws, finger sandwiches and sausage rolls, as well as a fabulous centre piece cake.
