Public urged to reject care home closure plans

Councillors have urged residents to reject care home closure plans in Neath Port Talbot.

A six-week consultation begins this week on proposals to shut the Arwelfa care home in Croeserw in 2017. The residents are to be provided with alternative care in their own homes, according to the South Wales Evening Post.

Cymmer councillor Scott Jones said: “I am angry that yet more cuts are being forced on our already deprived communities,” he said.

“I urge everyone in the Upper Afan Valley to take part in the consultation and oppose the proposed closure of Arwelfa.”

A final decision will be made on the proposals later in the year.
