A Priory Group nursing home in Ayrshire has suffered a new COVID-19 outbreak after being hit during the first wave of the pandemic last year.
NHS Ayshire & Arran confirmed a “number of individuals” had tested positive for COVID-19 at Berelands House Care Home in Prestwick.
A Trust spokesperson said: “NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Health Protection Team and the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership are working closely with a care home in South Ayrshire where a number of individuals have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
“We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect residents and staff.
“To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.”
A spokesman for the home said: “We are working very closely with all the relevant authorities, regularly testing staff and residents, and liaising with families. Staff are following all protocols and necessary precautions, and vaccinations have been rolled out at the home for staff and residents. The home is closed to new admissions and non-essential visits in line with government guidelines, and our amazing staff are working throughout this difficult time to provide the best possible care.”
The home suffered an outbreak during the first coronavirus last year when a number of residents sadly passed away.
