Humberside Police are investigating serious safeguarding allegations at Barchester Healthcare’s Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home in York.

The allegations prompted an inspection by the CQC in August and September which rated the home Inadequate.

“A dedicated team of social care staff are continuing to work closely with residents, their families, the care provider and partner agencies to ensure the safety and ongoing care needs of residents are being met and appropriate improvements to care standards are made and sustained.”

The CQC said the home’s manager had failed to recognise the seriousness of the concerns or alerted the appropriate authorities with details of the incidents.

Staff reported that while they were happy with the safeguarding training provided they did not feel well equipped to support residents who were violent or aggressive.
