Peterborough Care Ltd is on course to open a 50-bed new build home in the Cambridgeshire city by the end of 2017 after its planning application was approved this week.
The care home, which is close to the Thorpe Wood Golf Course, will provide residential and nursing care.
Speaking to local newspaper Peterborough Today as the permission was granted, Councillor Nigel North, a member on the planning committee, said that building a care home was a good outcome for plot that had previously been earmarked for commercial development.
“It seems a very good project. It would have been nice to see some industry in there but there are 40 jobs created and I’m very pleased to see that,” he added.
This is the fifth care facility which has been opened by operator Peterborough Care. Director Ajay Marjara said: “This is an exciting time for the company as we continue to invest in the growing needs of our local population.”
