‘Outstanding’ operator swoops for Shropshire care home

An CQC rated ‘Outstanding’ care home provider has bought a Shropshire care home after it went into administration.

The new owners of Elmhurst Care Home in Whitchurch, Shropshire, which was put up for sale in March, have ambitious plans to turn the service into a centre of excellence.

Paul Reilly, Associate Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “This home generated a lot of interest and numerous offers, however, the eventual buyers were found after a best and final offer process.

“Demand in the market is currently outweighing supply, with many established care home operators looking to expand their portfolio in the Midlands region.”
The new owners, who are existing operators in the Shropshire area, plan to upgrade all the rooms in the home, which has planning consent to increase its capacity by a further 60 bedrooms.

Christie & Co marketed the business off a guide price of £1,500,000 for the freehold.

Elmhurst, which was put up for sale after being rated Requires Improvement by the CQC (see Shropshire nursing home put up for sale), is currently registered to provide care for 37 people.
