No London care homes for the elderly earn Outstanding in latest round of CQC inspections


The Care Quality Commission has published 174 reports on the quality of care provided by adult social care services across London and the South of England.

Not one care home for the elderly in London was rated as Outstanding. The only service in the capital to earn the top rating was Saint Francis Hospice, an adult crisis support unit.

Three Outstanding care homes were found in the South of England: Rose Lodge Exmouth in Devon:  Inter-County Nursing & Care Services – in Christchurch, and Applewood Care Home in Hampshire.

Overall in London 32 of these care homes and agencies supporting people in their own homes have been rated as Good, 11 have been rated Requires Improvement, 2 have been rated as Inadequate and 1 service was rated Outstanding.

In the South, 84 of these care homes and agencies have been rated as Good, 33 have been rated Requires Improvement, 8 have been rated Inadequate and 3 services were rated Outstanding.
