The second #clapforourcarers event will take place tonight giving everyone in the UK a chance to thank the amazing work being carried out by the health and social care workforce in the battle against the coronavirus.
Following the massive success of last week’s event, which was created by Dutch Londoner Annemarie Plas, it is now being held every Thursday at 8pm.
Last Thursday saw hundreds of thousands of people in lockdown come out onto their doorsteps to applaud the heroic work of people on the COVID-19 frontline.
Ideal Carehomes was among the care home operators up and down the country marking the occasion. The provider’s 19 sites live streamed their applause on Facebook to say thank you to all the tremendous efforts carers and other healthcare workers have provided throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.
Staff and residents at Outstanding rated Fairway View in Nottingham marked the occasion in song (see video above).
Fairway View resident, Mavis Wood, said: “The care team at Fairway View, in my opinion are incredibly heroic, for coming to work every day, putting on their uniforms and performing their jobs despite however anxious and worried they may be about the situation. Our carers are positive, upbeat and their efforts constantly reassure us that we are in very good hands. – today I stand up and clap for our healthcare professionals, they truly are amazing!”
