New Year Honours list peppered with care home professionals

The 2015 New Year’s Honours list is peppered with individuals from the elderly care industry who have provided outstanding achievement and service to their industry or communities.

Sharon Tracey Blackburn, policy and communications director, National Care Forum, was awarded a CBE for services to nursing and the not-for-profit care sector.

Sandra Jan Keene, director of adult social services and Sadie president, Leeds City Council and ADASS, for services to Social Care, also earned a CBE.

OBEs were awarded to Katrina Robinson, head of legal services at Viridian Housing, for services to housing; David Anthony Lancaster, councillor, Salford City Council, for services to the community in Salford and charitable services to elderly people through the Salfordian Hotel Trust; Maurice Charlesworth, senior volunteer, Age UK Lambeth for services to older people in Lambeth, London; Isobel Kirdwood, volunteer, Erskine Homes for services to veterans in Scotland; and Mary Freeman Parry, trustee, Wrexham Care Association for services to elderly people in Wrexham.
