New campaign launched to support nation’s care workers

The Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM), The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC), National Care Forum (NCF) and social thanking platform, Thank And Praise (TAP), have teamed up on a new campaign to support the nation’s care staff.

The campaign aims to shine a light on the inspirational people making up the UK’s 2m strong workforce who look after some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Jon Wilks, CEO of IHM, said: “Our remarkable social care workers, managers and leaders have been outstanding throughout the pandemic and we want to support the public to take time to say thank you to them.”

According to the CWC’s Wellbeing Report (2019), more than half (51%) of care workers have considered leaving their role in the past three years because of the effect of the job on their mental health with four in five (80%) of care workers said that they have not had formal training on managing mental wellbeing at work and more than two-thirds (68%) saying they were interested in such a service.

People are invited to show their support for care workers on TAP’s thanking platform at or make a donation to the CWC and support its mental health grants scheme at:
