More than 20,000 volunteers sign up for National Care Force

National Care Force

A free online platform designed to help social care providers fill staff gaps with health workers and volunteers during the coronavirus outbreak has celebrated a major milestone.

The National Care Force, which is powered by health technology firm Florence, has signed up 20,000 volunteers and 2,000 clients to support the care workforce in this challenging time.

Florence CEO, Charles Armitage, said: “The response to the National Care Force has been amazing. People all across the UK want to get stuck in and help with our country’s coronavirus response. We’re pretty humbled by the number of sign ups we’ve seen. Now it’s just a case of getting the volunteers to the frontline as quickly as possible!”

Professor Martin Green OBE, CEO of Care England, added: “Care England welcomes the National Care Force initiative.  In the short time that it has been operational it has attracted numerous people to both work and volunteer in the adult social care sector.  Workforce is our biggest and best resource and it is especially important to recruit and retain the care force during such difficult times.”
