Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG) has opened the doors of a £8m luxury care home in Great Malvern, Worcestershire.
Windsor Court, which is creating 70 jobs for the local community, provides 51-ensuite rooms and five-star facilities, including a bistro and bar, hair salon, and an eight-seat cinema which are open to the community as well (pandemic restrictions permitting).
Home manager, Zoe Miller, said: “This is the moment we have been waiting for and we are delighted that we can finally start showing people around our beautiful new home. The feedback has been so positive, with many commenting on the great location, the positive atmosphere, and the tranquil setting. The general consensus is also that it feels like a hotel, not a typical care home, and that is exactly how we want it to be.
“With dozens of people having registered their interest or even gone ahead and reserved their room ahead of opening, we are confident that we are delivering something really special that people in this area want, need, and most importantly, deserve.”
The home is set to be at the heart of the community, with the team having already worked with several local charities and organisations in the weeks and months ahead of the grand opening.
In June they held a fundraising coffee morning and afternoon tea for the Alzheimer’s Society. In July they sponsored the Great Malvern Food Festival, and invited pupils at Malvern St James to enter a competition to design an apron to be worn by Windsor Court staff at their stand there. And the team has also joined Malvern Hills District Council’s litter-busting ‘Adopt a Street’ initiative, volunteering to keep Lansdowne Crescent, where the home is located, litter-free.
Zoe added: “The team and I are firm believers that people living in care homes shouldn’t be tucked away out of sight and distanced from their local community. We will be using our mini-bus to take people out and about and we are looking forward to inviting the public to use our facilities. We have agreed already for Windsor Court to host a local book club, which we are very much looking forward to. Our aim is to offer a full, expansive way of life for those living here at this fabulous new home.”
