Mitre Linen has forged a partnership with Levitas, which creates a range of levitating beds that are being marketed to operators of luxury residential and assisted living homes.
Top end homes increasingly offer beds that avoid looking clinical in the bedroom, which is where Mitre Linen and Levitas fit in.
They will co-promote a range of beds that appear to float, alongside the designer Heritage range of linen.
The bed brand is aimed at high end care homes looking to offer something a little bit different to their residents.
Each bed has built in waterproof LED lighting which helps sterilise the mattress, improving health and wellbeing.
Stephen Broadhurst, managing director of Mitre Linen, said: “This is another exciting partnership for us with a British company and adds to our growing designer Heritage range.
“Leading care homes are looking for something a little bit different to offer their guests which is why we have designed Heritage by Mitre to help them create their own bespoke look.
“Levitas beds are the ultimate hanging for the wall and can add a touch of magic to a room. Space is often at a premium in care homes so a gravity defying floating bed is a clever – and fun – way to optimise the size of the room.
“Their height makes it quick and easy to clean and vacuum under, which improves airflow and also reduces dust, dust mites, bed bugs and allergens.”
The Levitas beds are made from 100% recycled aluminium and are designed with a hidden cantilever support system which can hold the weight of ten people. The supports are so strong that they are guaranteed for 10 years by the manufacturer.
The bed frame has built-in LED light channels that can accommodate UV light LED strips to assist in sterilising the mattress, killing house dust mites, bacteria and viruses.
Mr Broadhurst said: “We believe our Levitas range will particularly appeal to the care home sector. Based on its elevation it makes wheelchair access easier while the design of the bed allows airflow to corrugate, keeping the mattress cool and improving airflow. This is revolutionary technology that will make a real difference in care homes and give them a competitive edge.”
The beds come in five sizes as standard (Single, Metric, Double, King and Super King) and in five colours (Brownstone, Limestone, Gypsum, Coal and Moonstone). Each can be finished with a padded fabric or painted. Prices start at £2,570.
