Mental health rehab care home sold

Established in 1987, Lyndale Residential Home provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with mental health difficulties within a community setting

The sale of Lyndale Residential Home in Tavistock, Devon, has been announced by Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co

Established in 1987, Lyndale Residential Home provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with mental health difficulties within a community setting.

The ethos of Lyndale is the hope that it is possible for meaningful life to be restored despite serious mental illness and providing a holistic view of mental illness that focuses on the person and encourages their personal development, the ability to carry out activities, and develop relationships that give their lives meaning.

The home has been owned by Mervyn and Julianne Dalton since 1996 and was recently brought to market to allow them to retire.

Following a confidential sales process with Simon Harvey at Christie & Co, it has been sold to experienced care home owner, Kevin Betts who has been involved in numerous care businesses across the country and felt that Lyndale was a suitable addition to his other Devonshire care home, The Meadows: Instow.

Mervyn Dalton, former owner of Lyndale Residential Home, comments, “We are very much looking forward to our retirement. It was the right time both from a business and personal perspective to exit the market and, with Kevin Betts’ experience in the care industry, we are confident that Lyndale will continue to thrive under his guidance.”

Kevin Betts, the new owner of Lyndale Residential Home, comments, “We are delighted to have acquired Lyndale, which is a long-established and very successful home. We wish Mervyn and Juliann a very long and happy retirement.”

Simon Harvey, Senior Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “We were pleased to have been chosen to assist Mervyn and Julianne with the sale of Lyndale and, ultimately, to enable them to retire from running the business. Homes of this nature always attract strong interest, and this was, once again, the case.

“Although it took some time to conclude the transaction, a positive outcome is really good news for all concerned. This sale and numerous others that have completed recently or are due to in the near future, continue to demonstrate the appetite within the South West care market.”

Lyndale Residential Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
