Mapping tool identifies care organisations in need of PPE

A new crowdsourced mapping tool has been launched to get PPE to the care organisations who need it.

FindTheMasks, which was originally developed by tech volunteers in the US, is now being rolled out in the UK as well as a number of other countries across the world.

UK lead Drew Hunt said: “Care providers in need of PPE can visit where they can submit their contact details and needs in order for donors to quickly and efficiently identify organisations in their local vicinity. With a growing number of small businesses 3D printing visors and making masks, along with other PPE items, it is important that we make the process of getting the PPE to our frontline workers as easy as possible.

“Our data is moderated by our international team of volunteers to ensure all PPE requests are coming from a legitimate source before they are added to our map. We are hearing anecdotal stories from care organisations who are partnering with local businesses to use as a drop off location to prevent any unnecessary visitors to care facilities and to ensure the governments social distancing guidelines are adhered to.”
