An Orchard care home has been rated Inadequate after people were found to be at risk of malnutrition and dehydration.

Green Park Care Home in Warrington, Cheshire was placed in Special Measures following a visit by inspectors in May.

A spokesperson for the home said: “We are disappointed by the findings of the report, which do not meet the high standards we aim for.

“Immediate and robust action has already been taken. We are continuing to invest in the fabric of the home, and now have a new and very experienced manager in place, who is working with the staff team to implement processes and drive improvements.

“The training of staff is of paramount importance and a recruitment plan is in place, in addition to the home receiving support from senior management and working closely with the CCG, Local Authority and external partners.”

The CQC report commented: “We found limited evidence with regards to appropriate actions being taken in a timely manner to safely protect people from the risk of malnutrition.”

Inspectors found errors in the recording of people’s food and fluid intake with charts not always accurately recording what was consumed.
