A leading North East care and leisure organisation has strengthened its team with the appointment of one of the region’s most experienced construction industry professionals.
Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc, which owns some of Tyneside’s most popular hospitality venues, along with a portfolio of residential care homes, has recruited Ian Tubman to the position of project director.
Tubman has worked in the construction industry for more than 25 years, serving his time as a joiner and building surveyor before going on to be senior project manager on large and complex capital projects and programmes for both North Tyneside Council and Durham University.
A long serving member of the Association of Project Managers, he holds a first class honours degree in building surveying and a number of Leadership and Management qualifications.
Reporting directly to the group board, his primary responsibility will be the delivery of all key property and site development projects on time and within budget.
In addition, he will assist with the co-ordination of all appointments with key contractors and sub-contractors, identify and quantify any project related savings against costs and timeframes, and oversee various property maintenance programmes and budgets within the Group.
Bunty Malhotra, CEO of Malhotra Group and director of care for its care division, which operates under the brand name of Prestwick Care, said: “His experience and expertise will be valuable assets to both our leisure and care divisions. The group has a number of developments in the pipeline as we continue our planned expansion and we are confident Ian will demonstrate the highest of standards in bringing them to completion.”
Tubman said: “Having worked extensively in the public and education sectors I am very much looking forward to bringing my experience to bear in the hospitality, leisure and care industries. Malhotra Group has an excellent reputation for quality across all areas of its portfolio and I am delighted to be part of its team.”
