The winner of the 2022 Innovation in Care (Care Home) award, sponsored by Beaucare, is Stow Healthcare’s Home Maker campaign.
This award recognises providers who have come up with creative ways to support staff and improve outcomes for individuals over the past year. Examples of award-winning business initiatives cover areas such as staff training and development and increasing residents’ well-being.
Stow Healthcare bagged the award by taking a proven dementia therapy, known as the Montessori principles, and using it to give back to dementia patients some of the skills the illness has robbed them of.
It is challenging both residents and care workers to think differently and in the process allowing patients to relearn simple yet valuable skills like shaving, eating with a knife and fork, and making cups of tea.
