Liberty Healthcare to take over Staffordshire care home, report


Liberty Healthcare is to take over Sunningdale Care Home in Tamworth, according to a local report.

The Tamworth Herald says Liberty Healthcare will take over the home which is due to close in the next few weeks.

A Liberty Healthcare spokesman said: “I can confirm Liberty Healthcare were approached during August to discuss the possibility of taking over Sunningdale Care Home. Liberty has committed to this purchase and held meetings in the home to discuss this with residents, their families and the staff.

“A substantial deposit has been paid and the application to CQC been submitted. Liberty has no outstanding issues with CQC and look forward to working with all connected with Sunningdale Care Home.”

Robert Evans, company director at Sunningdale Care Home, added: “Liberty Healthcare have exclusivity for a period of time to negotiate a deal.”

Mr Evans said the exclusivity is in place runs until the “middle of November”.

Formed in 1989 Liberty Healthcare is an independent family run company based in Walsall.

The provider offers residential, nursing, dementia and respite care and runs the Fountains Care Centre near Manchester.
