Incoming New Century Care COO ready to tackle business challenges

New Century Care

New Century Care has appointed Phil Smith as chief operating officer. He joins from Sunrise, where he spent over 10 years, most recently as senior director of operations.

Smith joins New Century Care, which operates 27 nursing and residential care homes throughout the UK, as they grapple with the challenges of rising wages and fees and constrained local authority budgets.

“The next year poses some important challenges, not least the introduction of the National Living Wage and the ongoing pressure on local authority fees. But there will be exciting opportunities for providers too.  I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues at New Century Care to ensure we effectively meet the challenges and make the most of those opportunities,” said Smith.
