Helen McArdle will open a new £6m purpose-built care home in Jesmond, Newcastle this weekend.

The flagship Fleming Court home in Burdon Terrace will employ 60 staff from the local area.

Heading up the team at Fleming Court is Suzanne Hughes, who has extensive experience of managing care homes, she said: “I am delighted to be managing Fleming Court and I am excited to have been given the opportunity to commission my first new care home. At Fleming Court we have created a lifestyle that reflects the dignity and luxury that older people deserve and I am very excited to welcome our first residents.”

Fleming Court will provide residential, dementia and respite care with facilities including en suite bedrooms with showers and doors into the gardens, restaurant, cinema cafe, bar, organgery, terraces and balconies, beauty salon, bowling green and sensory garden.

Family-owned business, Helen McArdle Care currently manages 18 care homes and employs over 1,300 staff with a turnover of almost £32m. In October, the 18th  Helen McArdle care home opened in Newton Aycliffe (St. Clare’s Court) and the 20th is to open in Peterlee next year (Grampian Court).

The company has invested £12m into the three new purpose-built care homes, which will provide a further 180 full time jobs in the region.

Helen McArdle Care provides residential, dementia, nursing, respite and home care throughout the North East of England.

In August this year Helen McArdle Care was the first care provider in the UK to achieve four outstanding CQC inspections.  Company founder and chairman, Helen McArdle, was awarded a CBE in 2015 for her services to the care industry and the local community.
