HC-One’s Hillside View Nursing Home in Paisley, Scotland has welcomed a “glowing” report from an inspection that was prompted by a complaint.

The nursing home, which provides care for 57 adults and older people, was rated ‘very good’ for its care and support during the pandemic and for its infection prevention and control practices.

Commenting on its findings, the regulator said it found the environment “clean and well maintained”.

“There were good quality assurance processes in place to ensure adherence to current infection protection and control guidelines,” the Inspectorate added.

“Regular testing was in place for staff and people experiencing care. PPE supplies were plentiful, and we observed this being used appropriately by staff. Measures were in place to ensure people observed social distancing.”

The regulator also noted the appointment of four infection control champions to promote good practice, adding: “Staff had received training on infection prevention and control, and this was reflected in the knowledge and good practice we observed.”

A spokesperson for Hillside View Nursing Home said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the Care Inspectorate’s latest visit, in which Hillside View was graded ‘Very Good’ in regards to our care and support during the COVID-19 pandemic, and infection prevention and control practices. This glowing report is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the local team at the home who work hard to provide the best care to our residents.

“We are pleased to see the team praised for correct use of personal protective equipment, regular testing, effective quality assurance standards in the home and adherence to the guidelines on social distancing. We were also glad to see our four infection control champions praised for promoting good practice in the home, and that the Care Inspectorate recognised the team as having received effective training in infection prevention and control.
