Care home managers and product distributors gathered at the Electrolux Center of Excellence in Luton yesterday to learn about the global company’s latest product innovations.
Michael Christian (pictured), training and demonstration manager, provided a demonstration of the Electrolux high spin and super washers, tumble dryers and ironers.
The Electrolux product range is fitted with the unique CMIS management information system which provides a simple report on wash temperatures and detergent dosages in order to help maximise productivity and comply with disinfectant legislation.
The reports are generated in seconds by simply inserting a UBS stick into a box fitted to the products. The UBS sticks are also compatible with other product manufacturers.
As part of its customer service, Electrolux provides guidance on controlling the risk of infection from laundry.
Care segment manager Amanda Dufrane said: “Health care acquired infections (HCAIs) affect 7% of people admitted to hospital. People are going from care homes to hospitals all the time and vice versa. Laundry is a potential carrier of HCAIS it is therefore vital to control its flow.”
The Electrolux laundry cycle management pack offers an eight-step guide on how to minimise laundry contamination from picking up and pre-sorting to drying, sorting, folding, packing and storing.
Amanda said: “We like to look at the entire process from clean linen to dirty linen.”
