EU REFERENDUM DEBATE: Care England says there is no consensus among its members

Professor Martin Green

Trade association Care England will not take an official position on the EU referendum, its chief executive Professor Martin Green has told Care Home Professional.

Care England is at the forefront of the national policy agenda and is represented on key government and regulatory policy groups.

It aims to speak with a single unified voice for both its members and the whole care sector, but Mr Green says that Care England “regards the EU referendum as a personal issue for individual voters”.

He adds that, as an association that represents the entire industry, it is impossible on this occasion to present a view on which everybody agrees.

“There is no consensus within our membership, so be wrong of us  to hold a position,” he states.

Editor’s note: Care Home Professional has invited business leaders from across the care home industry for their views on the EU Referendum and will publish all opinions from both sides of the argument.
