Encore Care Homes is to launch a new revolutionary form of dementia suits training that enables healthcare professionals and members of the community to experience what it’s like to live with dementia.
Encore is holding the first free sessions on Thursday, October 4 at its Great Oaks care home in Bournemouth, Dorset at 9.30am or 1pm.
Chief executive Rachel Dryden said: “Following the success of our previous Virtual Dementia Tour, we couldn’t think of a better time to launch our new Dementia Champions Suits training than during World Alzheimer’s Month.
“Dementia is a condition which can take many different forms. It can severely affect vision and the other senses which can create a feeling of confusion, anxiety and fear. We want to ensure that the community is able to understand the effects of dementia by experiencing it first-hand for themselves, so that they are able to help people affected by the condition as best as they can.
“We pride ourselves on being a dementia resource for the community and hope to help healthcare professionals and relatives communicate and better connect with those with dementia in a whole new way.”
