Ashbourne Lodge in Derbyshire has become one of the first care homes in the county to receive Pfizer-BioNTech vaccinations for residents.

Care home resident David (pictured with carer Anisha) was the first person in the home to receive the vaccine.

David said: “It’s really great to be able to be vaccinated with my friends around me. Hopefully this marks the beginning of the end of COVID-19.”

Jim Watt, Home Manager of Ashbourne Lodge, added: “We are delighted to be vaccinating our care home residents. I feel extremely relieved and thankful that it’s happening in our home and cannot wait to get some normality back for the residents and staff.”

The staff of Milford Care are a few weeks into receiving their vaccines and are extremely happy with the results.

Admin Manager, Sue Loveridge, said: “It was well organised at the hospital when I got there for the vaccination. All my questions were answered by a doctor ahead of receiving the vaccine.”

Milford Care has six care homes in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The homes (Spencer Grove in Belper, Derbyshire, Milford House in Milford, Derbyshire, The Meadows in Alfreton, Derbyshire, Ashbourne Lodge in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, Hazelgrove in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, Buddleia House in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire) are all due to have the vaccine.
