Countrywide 2017

Leading specialist care home consumable and equipment supplier Countrywide Healthcare has reported strong growth in the last financial year.

Turnover rose from £14.4m to £17.4m in a year of expansion for the business.

Managing Director Alastair Kitching said: “The business underwent a management buyout (MBO) in April 2014, after which we placed a greater emphasis on sales & marketing with a determination to increase our profile and shape the business for future growth. Since the MBO, sales will have jumped from £9.3m to projected sales in excess of £20m for the coming year.”

The Barnsley based distributor has secured numerous care home supply contracts in the last year, as well as developing an extensive online presence to meet the increasing demand of healthcare products to the private sector.

After recently acquiring Allanda Ltd, an online retailer of incontinence products, the key focus for the business remains the ever-growing elderly sector.

Sales & Marketing Director Jeremy Gilson said: “We are already established in the incontinence sector with our web shop, Incontinence Supermarket, and the Allanda purchase now means we have online B to C sales in excess of £2m per annum which complements our growing care home business.”

Alastair added: “It’s been a fantastic time for Countrywide, Jeremy and I have enjoyed transforming the business into what it has now become. We have increased our workforce from 60 employees to 94 in an area of South Yorkshire that everybody is aware has had its fair share of economic hardship.”
