Construction has begun on a £12.5 million care home in Lytham in Lancashire that will include a cinema, hair salon and coffee shop.

The 76 bed facility, which will offer residential, dementia and specialist nursing services, will be operated by New Care with funding provided by Octopus Healthcare, Insider Media reports.

Chris McGoff, chief executive at New Care, (pictured) said: “We are delighted to have started work on our superb new 76-bed care home in Lytham and are pleased to be providing the town with a truly modern, purpose-built care facility that will deliver high-quality care with first-class services.

“The plans for the care facility in Lytham are fantastic. Build is underway now and as a company we are looking forward to the development taking shape in the coming months.”

The home will create approximately 70 jobs with each room including en-suite shower facilities. The home will also include communal lounges, dining rooms and gardens.

Part of the McGoff Group, New Care will be working with principal contractor McGoff & Byrne on the project, which is due for completion in early 2017.
