Toileting solutions provider Closomat says a tax break means care home providers can invest in bathroom products for free.
Capital Allowances tax relief for small and medium sized enterprises applies to plant and machinery, including fixtures such as bathroom suites.
The full costs of these items can be deducted from before tax profits under the annual investment allowance.
Robin Tuffley, Marketing Manager at Closomat, said: “In effect, a care home could invest in our toileting assistive technology and it cost them nothing.
“Then add in the other benefits. The investment makes a priceless difference to clients, in their dignity, feeling in control and independent. It helps achieve more efficient use of staff, as they could often be relieved of having to help someone go to and use the toilet, and be re-allocated to other tasks.
“The technology improves client cleanliness, hygiene, too. It potentially cuts laundry bills by reducing the amount of clothing soiled by continence issues, and avoids the risk of cross-contamination from faces or urine when hands haven’t been properly washed. It’s a win:win situation.”
Closomat manufactures, supplies and installs accessible toileting and bathing fixtures, to enable people to remain independent in their intimate care, for as long as possible.
