The Clap For Our Carers campaign to celebrate NHS, social care and other key workers returns tonight in a new broader format.
Rebranded ‘Clap for Heroes’, the weekly event on Thursday at 8pm will this time acknowledge every hero who has played their part during the pandemic, including home schoolers, neighbours, scientists, volunteers, all those who wear masks when out, those who have stayed at home and socially distanced, shop workers, those in the arts and hospitality sectors, everyone who has battled or is still battling COVID-19 or caring for someone unwell and those who have lost loved ones to the virus.
Announcing the return of the celebration, which comes after the UK entered a third lockdown amidst spiralling infection rates this week, founder Annemarie Plas, tweeted: “We are bringing back the 8pm applause, in our 3rd lockdown I hope it can lift the spirit, of all of us. Carers teacher, homeschooling parents, those who shield and ALL who is pushing through this difficult time! Please join & share!”
