Castlemeadow Care Group director Dr Sanjay Kaushal told the Eastern Daily Press: “With our care home in Norwich we are challenging the normal care home model, taking it to the next level.

“It is not just about you staying in your room but having the opportunity to engage with other residents. In the communal areas we will always have activities.”

Dr Kaushal said the facility would have a boutique hotel-like feel, adding: “People’s expectations are changing. In the past you accepted any care you were given, people never had much choice. People have worked hard all their lives, so why shouldn’t they expect the best?”

Castlemeadow is also part of a scheme to build a care complex in Halesworth, Suffolk.
