A careers fair in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire will next week showcase the wide range of job opportunities in the social care sector.
Local care providers are partnering with Care & Support Jobs, the sister company of leading recruitment specialist Cohesion, on the event at the Gateway Centre on March 26.
Dave Beesley, Talent Director at Cohesion, said: “We are delighted to be hosting a social care careers fair in Buckinghamshire and look forward to welcoming potential candidates and informing them about working within the sector. As our population ages, there is a real need for more care workers, and we sometimes find there is still a stigma around working in care which needs to be re-dressed.
“Many people aren’t aware of the career opportunities and the progression potential within a social care career. We are also aiming to highlight the benefits that come with caring for people on a day-to-day basis – it isn’t just about working with the elderly, but can involve helping those with learning disabilities or autism to take part in activities within their community, such as going to the cinema or visiting local shops. A good carer can make a real difference to someone’s day.”
Organisations, including The Fremantle Trust, Choice Support and Heritage Care, will be attending the event to talk to potential candidates about the skills required to work within the sector. A number of workshops are being run on-site offering advice on interview techniques and CV writing, amongst others.
Students from Buckinghamshire College (Aylesbury Campus), who are studying the social care level 2 course, have also been invited to meet with local providers at the event to discuss their options and potential career pathway when completing their course.
