Care UK has bought a site in Hythe, Hampshire for the development of a 62-bed home.

The 1.7 acre Forresters site, which was secured through international real estate adviser Savills, lies on elevated land and provides excellent views of the Southampton Water tidal estuary.

Richard Pearman, business development director at Care UK, told Care Home Professional: “We are very pleased to have secured this site to build one of our new homes.

“We will bring the very latest thinking and technology in care home design to Hampshire, making full use of our experience in opening over 20 new homes around the country in the last five years.

“We pride ourselves on taking an active role in the local communities where our homes are based with events for local people and fundraising activities for good causes.

“We’re a popular employer in the care sector and I expect a high demand for the 100 or so jobs that we will be creating in Hythe.  If our timeline goes according to plan, the home will be ready to receive the first residents in the winter of 2018.”

Craig Woollam, head of healthcare at Savills, added: “The Forresters site provides an ideal setting for a care home and will add further much needed new beds in the catchment.”

Care UK plans to construct the facility over three floors with en-suite wet rooms for each bedroom and day and dining spaces on every floor.
